Experience the Zebula lifestyle

Africa's premier bush, golf and spa destination

Golf estates abound in South Africa but none can match Zebula, a stunning and totally unique lifestyle destination a mere 2 hours' drive north of Johannesburg in the magnificent malaria-free Waterberg region of Limpopo Province.

Located on 1600 hectares of pristine bushveld in the shadow of the Waterberg mountains, Zebula commands a most spectacular setting. Undulating, indigenous tree-covered hills and wide-open grasslands are punctuated with frequent dams and waterholes – a diverse landscape that supports a wide variety of game, birds and small wildlife.

Upmarket luxury homes are tastefully designed and privately positioned so as not to impose on the surroundings.  The Peter Matkovitch-designed golf course respects the environment, following the natural contours of the terrain, a masterful symphony of indigenous bush and landscaped areas. Surprising for its bushveld location, water supply is both abundant and sustainable, ensuring that the quality of the greens is unrivalled and that playing surfaces are always top notch.

Naturally occurring game include Kudu, Impala, Blue Wildebeest, Zebra, Blesbok, Red Haartebeest, Giraffe, Eland, Jackal, Warthog, Ostrich as well as many other indigenous species. Visitors and residents are able to walk, run, cycle or drive on the estate and get up close and personal with the wildlife, making a trip to Zebula a true back to nature experience. Zebula also offers 3 hour game drives into the adjoining Mabalingwe Nature Reserve where you may also see Rhino, Buffalo and Elephant.

Guests at Zebula can enjoy face to face animal encounters with elephants, lion and tiger cubs, while our resident cheetah take our wildlife experience to whole new level, further confirming our status as a golf and leisure destination unlike any other on the continent.

The Zebula Clubhouse is the estate's crowning glory, in prime position for sundowners on the deck while watching a blood-red African sunset over the distant Waterberg after a day spent on the golf course, languishing in the spa, or making memories with your family and friends.

The Spa at Zebula is a haven for golfers and non-golfers alike.  This is a place to indulge, heal and unwind in a beautiful natural setting complete with indoor heated splash pool, relaxation garden and health bar with awe-inspiring views. Here a comprehensive range of therapies, including The Spa at Zebula's unique African and Asian inspired Signature treatments, will ensure that the stresses and strains of city living are effectively eased away.

With a myriad activities from which to choose, Zebula is all things to all people. In fact, there is so much to do that a weekend away may well not suffice and you'll find yourself, like so many of our guests, returning again and again, becoming familiar old friends in the process. Bush walks and drives, spa treatments, golf, interactions with animals, quad and horseback safaris, fishing, archery, clay target shooting and tennis. The list is as endless as the opportunities for fun for all members of the family.

Zebula is located 40km west of Bela Bela (formerly Warmbaths), in the Limpopo Province, 2 hours from Johannesburg and 1,5 hours north of Pretoria. Access is via highway and excellent tarred road right until the Zebula Main Gate.

Aviation Friendly Zebula Zebula given 5-star golf experience rating
There's not a more exhilarating way to approach Zebula Golf Estate & Spa than from the air! From way up there, the bird's-eye view reveals the true magnificence of the estate and Golf Course. More often than not, the 1,4km tarred airstrip is a-buzz with animals attracted by the warmth of the tarmac, sometimes making it necessary to perform a low fly over to drive them off before landing.

The Zebula Airstrip is also home to the annual SAA Airshow which draws more than 120 aircraft to Zebula on this special weekend hosted around April every year.

The Zebula airstrip is open daily, with no landing fees. Please note that there is no air traffic controller.

Zebula is very proud to have once again received the Compleat Golfer Five Star Golf Experience Award for 2012. This is a fine achievement and is the result of the individual and combined efforts of all the staff at Zebula!

The award recognises all aspects of a golfer's experience at Zebula. This is from the initial phone call to make a booking, arrival through the security access, the check-in procedures, the facilities, the shop, the golf course experience, food and beverage, value for money and levels of service in general. Zebula has had four evaluations completed during the year and the award is to show that Zebula's levels of service and hospitality were at a consistently high standard.

Only 25 out of 1450 clubs/estates received the award at the Annual Awards Dinner held at Country Club Johannesburg last Monday night. This places us in good company at the very top of the golf experience list in the country. At least 5 clubs/estates did not retain the award from the previous year. We are the only recipient of the of the award in Limpopo.
